Funding proposals evaluations
Why
To make the best decision on any funding request for a project or a prize to be awarded, particularly within programmes or calls for proposals related to green or circular innovation. To be guided by objective criteria and sub-criteria and a rigorous, impartial evaluation, which can be provided to proponents.
Our contribution
Within European innovation and economic development programmes, Inecko* scores proposals and writes evaluation reports, takes part in consensus meetings with fellow evaluators and funder representatives (European Commission), moderates half of them, drafts the written summaries (‘consensus reports’). We also quality check reports written by other experts, oversee selection processes, sit on final ranking panels and prize juries. Since 2014, we have assessed 438 proposals for the European Commission, written 231 consensus reports, quality checked 95.
Methodology
Each assessment is based on 20-30 criteria and sub-criteria, so as to make evaluations as objective as possible. The form of our reports also meets high quality standards, which ensure great robustness and credibility with applicants or potential partners.
Our expertise in strategy, economic and financial assessment, commercial uptake and local economic development enables us to analyse in depth the soundness, viability or execution of projects. Our experience in EU project management and writing, on the proponents’ side, is a further advantage.
For example
For the EISMEA (European Commission, 17 assignments since 2020), we have assessed 222 proposals relating to innovation, innovation ecosystems (Europe, Africa), SME/startups finance, green and circular innovation, regional development: EUR 1-60M calls, 12% selection rate. We have written 86 consensus reports, taken part in 84 consensus meetings (36 moderated) and 16 final ranking panels. We have also been Jury member and Rapporteur for the European Innovation Council’s 2022 and 2024 Social Innovation Competitions, moderated 2 panel meetings: 3 green tech SMEs funded, 19 enrolled in an acceleration programme.
For the REA (European Commission, 2015-2019), we oversaw 3 selection processes focusing on technology startups in culture and heritage: EUR 2.5-8M calls, 2-3% selection rate, 3 European academics-evaluators per proposal. We ensured deadlines were met, quality checked 41 consensus reports, attended 1 final review panel.
